The Canadian Garden Council is pleased to announce that Garden Days 2020 will be held from June 13 to 21. National Garden Day will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20th .
This year’s Garden Days will be very different from previous years. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live. With restrictions on who we can meet with and where we can go, more people than ever are rediscovering the joys of gardens and gardening.
Garden lovers already know the benefits of the garden but there is also scientific evidence that shows gardening is good for body and soul. So, this year Garden Days celebrates the healing power of gardens. Whether your hands are in the dirt of your backyard garden, or you prefer to take a stroll through a public garden, it’s Garden Time!
The Garden Days marketing campaign will introduce experts in the field of health and wellness to reinforce the important part that gardens play in our lives and our communities.
As you can imagine, the conversations and topics will be wide-ranging – from the joys of community gardening to the “garden prescriptions” being handed out by some doctors, and everything in-between.
It’s Garden Time! Garden Days 2020 celebrates the joy of gardens and gardening, and its many benefits to our physical and mental well-being.
Participate in this year’s celebrations by sharing your #GardenTime on your social media feeds. Garden Days 2020 will be supported by a national social marketing and PR campaign. We will also encourage cities to proclaim an Official Garden Day.
For organization with activities and promotion aligned with Garden Days, we will encourage them to use the Garden Days brand.

Garden Days, a program of the Canadian Garden Council, is Canada’s country-wide celebration of the vital role of gardens and gardening in our communities and our lives. This celebration is for gardening enthusiasts, families, schools and tourists alike. Garden Days is an opportunity for Canadians to enjoy their own garden, visit their favourite garden experience, get inspired at their local garden centre or travel to a nearby destination to enjoy their favourite garden.
Garden Days’ objective is to draw attention to our cultural garden landscape, history and innovations and to underscore the importance of public and private gardens, the value of home gardening and the promotion of environmental stewardship.
