Gardens feed us. Gardens enrich us. And gardens soothe our souls.
“Over the past few weeks during the Covid-19 crisis, and as spring 2020 breaks across Canada, the Canadian Garden Council has recorded a marked increase in the demand for gardening information and products online from previous years. On social media, posts describing a need to get outside to begin planting a vegetable garden are more frequent than usual. People have been asking provincial authorities for access to garden centres, nurseries and greenhouses. Recent surveys indicate a higher level of interest in public garden visitation than usual, once restrictions are lifted. As this extraordinary period of confinement is showing Canadians, plants, gardens and gardening are essential aspects of how we live our lives and enjoy the outdoors.”
